Duterte wants 6 executions daily | Headlines, News, The Philippine Star | philstar.com
President Duterte has threatened to execute “five or six” death row convicts daily once the death penalty is restored.
Duterte, who has launched a bloody war against illegal drugs and criminality, said he wanted capital punishment restored “because I want to use it against you (criminals).”
He implied that capital punishment failed to work as a crime deterrent in the past because only a few executions were carried out.

“Hang first and then there will be another ceremony for a second time until the head is completely severed from the body. I’d like that because I am mad,” Duterte said in a press conference last May.

Where did Duterte’s bonus for PNP come from? Don’t ask, says Bato | Inquirer News
Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa evaded the question when he was asked from which government fund did President Duterte source his Christmas bonus, estimated to be worth millions of pesos, for top police officials.
“Huwag na kayo magtanong kung saan galing. Basta hindi ‘yan galing sa drugs (Don’t ask where it came from. Just know it didn’t come from drugs),” Dela Rosa said in a press conference at Camp Crame on Monday.
Dela Rosa, however, made a guess and said, “Galing siguro ‘yan sa intelligence fund ng Presidente (It may have come from the President’s intelligence fund).”
UN rights chief: Probe Rody | Headlines, News, The Philippine Star | philstar.com
The United Nations’ human rights chief has asked Philippine authorities to investigate President Duterte for murder after he claimed to have killed people in the past and to also look into the “shocking number of killings” under his brutal crackdown on illegal drugs, which has left nearly 6,000 people dead.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein said in a statement issued in Geneva yesterday that Philippine judicial authorities “must demonstrate their commitment to upholding the rule of law and their independence from the executive by launching a murder investigation,” adding it is “unthinkable for any functioning judicial system not to launch investigative and judicial proceedings when someone has openly admitted being a killer.”
Duterte on narco-list: No proof beyond reasonable doubt | Headlines, News, The Philippine Star | philstar.com
There is not enough evidence to prove beyond reasonable doubt the guilt of thousands of local officials and policemen in President Duterte’s new list of drug offenders.
The President himself made the admission Monday night, saying he has only established “probable cause,” which in legal procedure could justify the filing of appropriate criminal cases against those in the list. ...
“And even if it is true that I could kill them with a bullet, I will run out of bullets and time to do it. That is the agony that we have. Many people do not realize it,” he said.
Duterte vowed to pursue his anti-drug campaign relentlessly until the last pusher or drug lord is eliminated.
