The country’s population increased further to 100.98 million in 2015, higher by 8.64 million than in 2010 when the national census was last conducted, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported yesterday.
Based on the Census of Population (POPCEN) concluded in August last year, the country’s population rose at a rate of 1.72 percent from 2010 to 2015.

In the Philippines, a celebration called Flores de Mayo is held every May. Mayor Antonio Halili came up with his own version called "Flores de Pusher," a walk of shame for drug suspects in Tanauan City, Batangas.
In spite of protests from the Commission of Human Rights, 11 suspected drug pushers were paraded in town while wearing signs that read: "Ako'y Pusher, Wag Tularan (I am a pusher. do not imitate me.)" Three of the suspects were minors.
Duterte inauguration will be low-key, he'll give 5-minute speech
Don't expect anything grand during the inauguration of incoming President Rodrigo Duterte, as he plans to make it as low-key as possible. For starters, he will take his oath of office at Malacañan Palace to lessen the expenses that are usually involved in the ceremony.

The report likewise added that "Duterte has yet to decide where he will stay following his inauguration. He explained that he is considering going back to Davao City after his inauguration, where he plans to hold office as President."
No presidential convoy for Duterte
Presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte is not inclined to have a presidential convoy, saying he is used to just having two vehicles with him when he is going around to perform his duties.
“I do not want to be followed around,” Duterte told reporters in a press conference on Monday night here.
“I’ve been used to only two cars. The media of Davao knows that. I’d like to maintain it that way,” he added.
When asked how he would react if the Presidential Security Group (PSG) insists on the security protocol, Duterte answered: “Di sila na lang mag-presidente (They should be the president instead).”
He also joked that those who want to assassinate him should not target the vehicle of his security aides.
Earlier, Duterte said he does not want to use the limousine being used by the president and prefers to use his pick-up truck as his presidential vehicle.
