Thank you for emailing IST Clinic for further information regarding Covid-19 PCR testing.
IF YOU ARE A TRAVELER
If you require a Covid-19 PCR test for travel purposes, IST Clinic is able to take samples. The sample will be sent to the National Lab (Ministry of Health), where the test will be done. At present, the result will take a maximum of 48 hours. If you test negative, you will get an official certificate made by the Ministry of Health.
OPENING HOURS
We are testing travelers from Monday to Saturday, from 8.00 AM till 11.00 AM. You cannot book an appointment for this. On Sundays and Public Holidays, we do NOT do the Covid-19 test.
CHECKLIST: what you can do BEFORE your visit
1. Prior to your visit to our clinic, you have to book your test at the following website of the Ministry of Health:
https://pimacovid.moh.go.tz/.
2. At the end of the booking, you will receive a message with the control number. With this control number you have to pay National Lab fees of 100 USD (+/- 230.000 TZS) via a NMB Bank branch or Mobile Money (M-pesa).
You can do step 1 and 2 a few days in advance, make sure you have at least done it the day BEFORE you visit IST Clinic!
3. Bring your proof of payment to IST Clinic (a soft copy can be emailed to:
billing@istclinic.com)
VISITING IST CLINIC
A service fee of 70 USD for the Covid-19 test at IST Clinic is applicable (for citizens, residents and foreigners). We request payment in Tanzanian shillings which is equivalent to the USD daily rate. Due to logistic reasons, we do not accept payment by (credit) card for this purpose.
All individuals are required to come with their original passport. Tanzanian residents have to bring (a copy) of their working and resident permits in addition.
TEST RESULT
If you test negative, you will receive an original certificate via the above mentioned website. A notification will be sent by email by the Ministry of Health once the certificate is ready. Note: this will only be possible if you have registered online prior to taking the test!
RAPID TESTS
In addition, rapid test facilities are available for KLM flights at Dar es Salaam Airport, Zanzibar (Migombani COVID-19 testing center, close to the airport) and Kilimanjaro International Aiport (KIA).
KINDLY NOTE: IST Clinic is only a facilitator in test sample collection, as the actual testing is being done at the National Lab. Therefore, IST Clinic can not be accounted for any issues with the results.
IF YOU ARE ILL AND REQUIRE TESTING
As a result of close communication and cooperation with the Ministry of Health, the IST Clinic has been designated as an official testing site for COVID-19 suspected cases. This means that the test, consisting of a nasal and throat swab, can be administered at the special COVID-19 facility adjacent to the IST Clinic by Clinic staff. The samples are then sent to a Government lab for analysis. Ensuring your health and safety during the testing process through proper distancing protocols is very important and is achieved by designated appointment time slots for each person being tested and the shortest possible time spent waiting at the testing site.
Therefore testing for covid-19 suspect persons, if their condition allows this, is done only between 11 AM and 4 PM (appointment is not needed).
