I completely agree with you; the Swissair nonstop connections used to be a given for me as an employee. Having left the airline business around 25 years ago, I practically only use connections via AUH and DOH now, due to the good value for money and the fact that the journey is only interrupted after about 6 hours. A drink in the lounge and perhaps a refreshing shower are, for me, the epitome of quality!

I have traveled through DXB, AUH & DOH on multiple occasions, but mostly through DXB. Earlier this year I tried something different, I booked with Oman Air from London Heathrow - Muscat - Bangkok in Economy. I found Oman Air a great airline & the crew were very attentive & the meals were also great, what surprised me most was Muscat airport. There were NO maddening crowds like in DXB, AUH, DOH, Muscat was very peaceful & not very busy at all

A really pleasent experience transitting through Muscat which I will repeat nexty year again.
